Random Acts of Kindness/Health, July, 2019

Happy 4th of July!

Hello Everyone,

In order to carry out our tradition we have given a donation to the Disabled American Vets (UWVC).

Laughter is the best medicine:  Back in India, when we were in grammar school we had a weekly function on Friday afternoon.  We had music, dance, caricature, and the best of all laughing competition.  They took five girls representing various classes.  They went on the stage and either told some jokes or just joined the laughing team.  We in the audience laughed with them for almost 10 minutes.

Laughing is mood lifting.  You exercise all facial muscles.  You feel better.  It is contagious.  You can cure some diseases.  It keeps you in good health.  And best of all you live longer.  It produces a feel good hormone – dopamine.

“If you look at life one way, there is always cause for alarm.” – Elizabeth Bowen, Irish author (1899-1973).

God bless you all, and God Bless America,

Sushil (Sue) Hennessy, July, 2019

Random Acts of Kindness

You don’t need money, just a little time to give mental support and be kind to all.  Check on the elderly, bring their Newspaper to their door in bad weather, say hello to your neighbors when you see them, wish them happy holidays and birthdays etc.  Call your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles; talk to them to make sure they are not lonely.  Thank the soldiers when you see them for keeping us safe; thank priests, police officers, teachers, postal workers, newspaper persons, trash collectors for their services.  Write notes to a lonely and unknown person and make his or her day.  These acts of kindness have a trickle-down effect.
