Random Acts of Kindness – Apr, 2017

Hello Everyone,

On March 2, 2017, Bill O’Reilly mentioned on his show “The O’Reilly Factor” that when he asked his kids what they were giving up for Lent, they mentioned “Nothing.” So he asked them to do Random Acts of Kindness, and write it down for all 40 days of Lent. We all are very proud of the parents and the urchins. They all make this world a great place to live. Thanks Bill for spreading the message!

On special occasions, I cook for the Hindu temple. On April 11, 2017, we had a special religious holiday, “Hanuman Jayanti.” I made Semolina Halwa (The Brain Food) for over 200 people. It is also known as Prasad, which is given to all as a god’s offering right after the worship. This Halwa is loaded with almonds, pistachios, cranberries and turmeric powder.

Tumeric Powder

Turmeric powder is an antioxidant and a wonderful spice. It has yellow color but no flavor. It has a substance called “Curcumin,” that can ward off stomach cancer and help alleviate Alzheimer’s. We use turmeric 3 to 4 times a day in cooking, about 1/4Teaspoon for two servings. India is low in Alzheimer’s Disease. I want to reach out to all those who have a family history of Alzheimer’s and suggest to incorporate Turmeric into their diets. According to the experts, the plaque that causes memory loss (Dementia) builds up in the patients’ brain almost 10 years prior to symptoms.

Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can read.
– Mark Twain

Before you go to sleep thank God for every blessing you received.

Thank you kindly,

Random Acts of Kindness
You don’t need money, just a little time to give mental support and be kind to all. Check on the elderly, bring their Newspaper to their door in bad weather, say hello to your neighbors when you see them, wish them happy holidays and birthdays etc. Call your parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles; talk to them to make sure they are not lonely, thank the soldiers when you see them for keeping us safe; thank priests, police officers, teachers, postal workers, newspaper persons, trash collectors for their services. Write notes to a lonely and unknown person and make his or her day. These acts of kindness have a trickle-down effect.
