Hello Everyone,
**Gave a donation to The Market Street Mission to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving.
**Kindness every day, and kindness all the way (This is a true story):
It took me a while to get used to of the Senior Living. There are people from all walks of life. But one thing all have in common is that they are lonely and can use a lot of help.
Back in August, 2021 when I was attending the Health Committee meeting, one of the guest, Ed from our own floor, came to attend our meeting. After talking for a few minutes he said, “We should help others, and we should help out our community. We should have a Blood Drive…”
When I heard that, I felt like telling Ed that the old people may be in need of getting blood for themselves, forget about donating. I said to Ed, you know you can help people right here. Lot of them can use some kind of help almost every day. I help people here and outside almost every day.
A couple of days later I ran into Ed and explained everything. I asked him if he can check on his neighbor (we will call him Joseph) Joseph, a 93 yrs. Vet. I told him that I take a round around 7:00p.m. to make sure he took his dinner in, and again in the morning around 7:30a.m. make sure he didn’t stay out all night. He is your neighbor just check on him, make sure he is all right. That will be a big help to me. Ed agreed.
On Aug. 31st Ed came home around 8:00p.m. and went by Joseph’s apartment. He heard a loud voice coming: “Help! Help!” Immediately Ed notified the Security desk, and they found Joseph lying on the floor, crushed under the wheel chair. They called the Paramedics and Joseph was taken to the hospital. He stayed there for three days and now Joseph is recuperating at the Healthcare Center.
I was so thankful to Ed that he took my advice and saved Joseph’s life. Next day Ed told me everything that Joseph was on the floor for almost an hour. The only thing I had to say to Ed, two of us together saved his life. I prayed to the God, that you sent me right place with right people, and with a right purpose. My Social Work degree is not going in vain. A few hours later Joseph’s son came and thanked all of us for saving his father’s life.
On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 I was telling this story to one of an elderly man who lives in our building, on a different floor, and is also in the wheel chair. He said, “I know the experience. I fell down three times and couldn’t get up. One time I was on the floor for almost three hours.”
I asked him to give me his name etc. and told him that from now on I will also check on him. He told me, “OK, I am alone. I have only one daughter, and she doesn’t live here.”
The moral of the story is: Help the helpless. Help a hurting soul. You don’t need any money, just a little kindness. Try to do one Act of Kindness every day. You may save a life, or may just heal a hurting soul. Loneliness is bad. The old people need more help than the younger one. Especially if they are unable to walk, are hungry, sick, and depressed. They should be on your priority list. Love thy neighbor in the name of God!

Random Acts of Kindness
You don’t need money, just a little time to give mental support and be kind to all. Check on the elderly, bring their Newspaper to their door in bad weather, say hello to your neighbors when you see them, wish them happy holidays and birthdays etc. Call your parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles; talk to them to make sure they are not lonely. Thank the soldiers when you see them for keeping us safe; thank priests, police officers, teachers, health care workers, food suppliers, postal workers, newspaper persons, trash collectors for their services. Write notes to a lonely and unknown person and make his or her day. Give thanks to all those heroes who are sacrificing their lives to help others during this Pandemic. You all are Angels.
