Baked Apples

Baked Apples

Serve: 6

During this Pandemic we had only some apples left to cook.  Due to lockdown all fresh fruits were gone.  These apples are very easy to make.  You can serve them as it is or use them for topping the cake, ice cream, pie, hot or cold cereal, or even pudding.  My husband loves them.

Ingredients:  1Tsp. butter to coat the pan; 4 gayla (or any other sweet apples) peeled, cut into 8 wedges, and cored; 1 cup orange juice, 4-5 Tbsp. brown sugar, 1/4Tsp. ground cinnamon; ½ cup chopped walnuts or prunes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease an 8 X 8 X 2-inches baking pan with butter. Spread out the apples in even layer, add the orange juice, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.  Cover the pan airtight with aluminum foil and place on the middle shelf.  Bake for 1 hr. turning the pan around halfway during the cooking. Turn the oven off but leave the pan in the oven for another 15-20 minutes to make them soft and tasty.  Serve warm or cold.
